VPN And Blocking Guides

Having problems watching Streamit? Learn how to bypass blocks, fix connection issues, and more!

Why this happens

Some networks filter streaming traffic, block certain domains, or slow video connections. The site may work on mobile data but fail on home Wi‑Fi — that usually points to your provider or router, not Streamit itself.

Try these first

Start with the quick steps below before changing anything else

Reload and rule out the device

Takes a minute, fixes many false alarms

  1. Step 1

Hard refresh the page or open it in a private window

  2. Step 2

Switch from Wi‑Fi to mobile data (or the other way around)

  3. Step 3

Pause other downloads and close extra tabs while a stream is live

Switch DNS on your device

Helps when the domain never resolves

  1. Step 1

Open network settings on your phone, tablet, or router

  2. Step 2

Set DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google)

  3. Step 3

    Reconnect, then load Streamit again

Route through a VPN

Best when your ISP or country filters the connection

A VPN sends traffic through another network so filters on your line are less likely to interfere. Free options are fine for a quick test — see the list below.

Backup address

If this address is unreachable, try one of our alternate mirror domains below.

Current address: https://streamit.st

Alternate mirror domains: streamit.cc, streamit.it

Is something blocking your stream?

Browser and player messages that point to a filtered connection

When you see the signals below, the problem is usually your ISP, workplace network, or regional filter — not Streamit itself. A VPN or DNS change often restores playback.

  • networkError: levelLoadTimeOut

Stream data blocked: The player gave up waiting for video data. Often means the stream host is unreachable from your region or ISP.

  • ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Connection refused: The route to the server was rejected outright — typical of a firewall or provider-level block.

  • 403 Forbidden / Access Denied

Access denied: The server answered but refused your request, usually because of where your IP appears to be located.

  • ERR_TIMED_OUT / Connection Timed Out

Connection timed out: Traffic never finished the round trip. Silent drops like this are common with filtered networks.

  • Endless buffering / Black screen

Stuck loading: The page opens but playback never starts, or the screen stays black while the spinner runs forever.

  • DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Domain not found: Your DNS cannot resolve the address. Switch to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8, or connect through a VPN.

  • ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

Name lookup failed: The hostname never resolves on your current network. DNS filtering or a regional block is likely.

What to try: Connect through a VPN and reload the event. If DNS is the issue, use the steps in Try these first. You can also open our backup address when the main domain is blocked.

VPN in short

A VPN encrypts traffic between your device and a remote server. Websites see the server's location instead of yours, which can sidestep regional blocks and some throttling rules.

What a VPN changes

Different exit path

Traffic leaves through another country or city

Less throttling

Your ISP sees encrypted data, not a video stream

More privacy

Hides your real IP from the sites you visit

Public Wi‑Fi

Adds a layer of protection on shared networks

Common questions

Do I need to pay for a VPN?

Not necessarily. Several free tiers are enough to test whether a VPN fixes your issue. Paid plans tend to be faster for long sessions.

Which country should I pick?

Try a nearby country first for better speed. If that fails, switch to another region until playback starts.

Is using a VPN legal?

Yes, using a vpn is completely legal in most countries.

Will a VPN always fix buffering?

No. Slow devices, weak Wi‑Fi, or overloaded stream sources can still cause issues. A VPN mainly helps when the network itself is the bottleneck.
